Food Post: Meatpie Recipe

Hello fellow foodies, I hope you enjoy this recipe

Ingredients for the dough :

3 Cups of flour

1 egg

2 pinches of salt

1 glass of water

3 scoops of blue band margarine

3 scoops of cooking fat

Methods:

Put flour in a bowl

Add salt

Add margarine

Add cooking fat. If you don’t like cooking fat or do not have cooking fat, you can add extra scoops of margarine

Mix the ingredients properly, using rubbing method.

Make a well in your mixture

Add a glass of water in the well

Mix it well till it becomes a big lump

Knead for three minutes

Place dough back in the bowl

Cover with a plastic wrap or foil wrap and let it rest

Ingredients for the filling :

Minced meat / Chicken /Vegetables

Potatoes

Garlic

Carrot

Thyme

Black pepper

Dry pepper

Onions

Methods :

Slice and fry the onions in very little oil. Add your grinded garlic, carrot, minced meat, cubed potatoes, salt, thyme, black pepper and dried pepper then let it simmer for five minutes.

While waiting for the meat to cook, divide the dough into four pieces. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius.

Roll out the dough

Get a sizeable bowl

Cut the dough

Apply egg wash on each piece of dough

Add the filling. Make sure it is on one side of the dough so it’s easy to fold.

Fold the dough into two

Use a fork to close the ends of the meat pie then apply margarine to the baking tray to ensure that the pies do not stick.

Take the egg wash and apply generously to all the pies (This gives it the golden brown effect).

Place it in the preheated oven and bake for 30-40 minutes at 180 degrees Celsius
